Classics Editorial Review

"The Divine Comedy: A New Translation" by Steve Ellis offers a readable version of Dante's epic poem for readers in the UK. While it lacks the punch of other versions, it allows readers to sit down and easily follow the story. The book is more accessible than other available translations, making it a good option for those wanting to delve into Dante's work. However, some readers may find it heavy going at times, as footnotes are necessary to understand certain references. Overall, Dante's work is highly praised for its cultural and artistic significance, and this translation serves as a good introduction to the poem.
